About The Responsible Business Directory

The Responsible Business Directory is a service provided by the Organisation for Responsible Businesses (ORB). All advertisers featured in the directory are Members of ORB. For more information about ORB please click the logo to the right.

As a consumer or another responsible business, you obviously care about people and the environment. No doubt you are also interested in the ethics of the businesses you are buying goods and services from.

Our members have taken and passed a self-assessment Responsible Business Questionnaire, developed in partnership with the University of Essex, and have made the following pledge:

We pledge to operate our business in an honest and ethical manner; to consider people and the environment when making business decisions; and endeavour to make a positive contribution to the local community and society at large.

Our Members’ directory entries not only provide an outline of their main business activities but also, when fully updated, information about the actions they are taking within their business to meet their social and environmental objectives.

To ensure ongoing accuracy of our directory entries, users are invited to make comments if they feel any statements made are incorrect. Any such comments will not be publicly displayed but will go directly to the ORB customer services department. A representative of ORB will then discuss the alleged problem with their member company.

If there are minor issues to be addressed, ORB will help the member deal with these and bring their business back to an acceptable standard. In the unlikely instance that a company is found to be intentionally making false statements and are being represented in the directory under false pretenses, they will be removed immediately.
