Company Profile

The Insititute of Accountants and Bookkeepers (IAB) is committed to creating a global community of aspirational, entrepreneurial, highly qualified and successful accountants, bookkeepers and finance professionals by providing accredited qualifications, support and continuing development from the beginning of a student's journey and throughout their career.

The IAB also offers membership and AML supervision for bookkeepers and accountants in practice.

Our Social and Environmental Activities

The IAB's corporate objectives are

1. To be recognised as the most influential Bookkeeping & Accountancy organisation

2. To be fully representative of the whole Bookkeeping & Accountancy community

3. To provide the most valued support and benefits

4. To provide the most recognised regulated qualifications in Bookkeeping & Accountancy

The IAB has achieved these objectives by

1. The IAB's vision is to raise the bar of bookkeeping, we do this by engaging with HMRC, HMT & Companies House. We are actively lobbying the government to regulate the industry and improve standards for those working in the industry and all stakeholders. Regulation would reduce money laundering crime and the tax gap.

2. We actively work with all relevant stakeholder groups from software providers to Government. We are an important feedback loop facilitating connection between government departments to our members working on the coalface.

3. We qualify and assess for value add any products we provide to our membership base. Our support is tailored to support lone workers as well as larger practices. For example we hold regular coffee mornings which offers technical guidance and community. We also run an ambassador programme providing pier support.

4. Our qualifications go through our vigorous quality assurance process. In addition, thorough market research is carried out with SME's to ensure the qualifications are fit for today's market and making our bookkeepers highly desirable to employers.

In addition to meeting our corporate objectives at the highest possible level, we are also committed to operating ethically and responsibly.

We are promoting the Responsible Business Standard Course and Certification to our members, and are actively encouraging them to share the triple bottom line approach with their clients and/or employers.

We host regular podcasts featuring a broad range of subjects such as wellbeing, sustainability, charity.

We always have at least one charity of the year for which we actively fundraise. At the time of becoming a member of ORB, we have just embarked on a mammoth Charity Bike Ride to help achieve the wishes of one of our D-Day veterans. This is what happened:

On Thursday 16th September 2011, my cycling teammates and I (Janet Jack, CEO) set off from our offices in Kent and cycled 196 miles with over 10,500 ft of climb to The National War Memorial in Lichfield. Some of the hills were brutal and I now understand why High Wycombe is called just that!

On the last day it rained hard and we all got soaked but as we arrived at the destination the sun shone and we all celebrated our achievement.

Our aim was to raise 10,000 pounds for the Normandy Memorial Trust in order to build an education and information centre above Gold Beach in Normandy to educate the future generations about the D-Day Landings. Well, guess what - we only went and did it!

Watch the quick 45-second video below which shows what went on and how our little team achieved their goal https://youtu.be/Y-_7UYa0ZAI

I want to thank everyone who sponsored and supported us on this fantastic challenge. It's not too late to donate. Your donation will help the next generations have a more peaceful future.
