Q Lawns grow and distribute quality turfgrass, Enviromat sedum matting for green roofing and Meadowmat wild flower matting for householders or land managers who want to support biodiversity. Natural lawns, green roofs and wild flower meadows are infinitely better and managing rainwater than hard surfaces and of course all three are as valuable to wildlife as they are to the wellbeing of human beings. Q Lawns' deliver nationwide and offer training in sedum roof installation.
Q Lawns turf growers are part of an agricultural enterprise that prides itself in caring for the environment in every way possible.
As part of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and working towards the Government's Higher Level Stewardship scheme, we make concerted efforts to support wildlife on the farm, from planting new hedges, managing our woodland and waterways to installing nest boxes for bats and birds.
Because we supply most of England and Wales with quality turfgrass, wildflower matting and sedum green roofs, we do a lot of travelling. These perishable products need speedy transit but even so, we do our utmost to use vehicles as efficiently as possible and as our Company cars become due for renewal, we are sure to replace them with vehicles that have minimal impact on the Environment.
At Q Lawns, we have an excellent employee retention rate..and not because we're particularly well paid either! The Directors take a keen interest in employee health and welfare and will usually support requests for extra training and personal development. Most of our colleagues live in Company-owned houses - something that is becoming quite rare in the farming industry - and most of the children attend local schools. Q Lawns help to support local schools and other community organisations...for example, the Company recently bought new kit for the local football team and every year we lend our trailer to the girlguides to transport their equipment to and from camp.
We try very hard to ensure that suppliers and customers are all treated fairly and honorably. Our bills are paid on time and the few customer complaints that we do hear of are resolved quckly and (usually) amicably.
We try to communicate with customers and suppliers online whenever we can, thus cutting down on the amount of paper we use and of course anything that can be recycled, is recycled from milk cartons, to paper, to grass clippings which are composted and returned to the soil.
